- Subconscious is an Angel Exclusive psych that automatically recovers HP under certain conditions. Some pins automatically recover HP (Blown Kiss, Archangel, Visionary Blend), while others just use any HP recovery pins Neku is wearing. Among those that restore HP, Visionary Blend is unique in that it heals status effects and also reloads (though the reload is painstakingly slow).
- There are also various ECHO Recorders found throughout the level. Many feature silly stories ostensibly narrated by Janey Springs, mostly casting Claptrap as the hero in various exciting exploits. One is left by 5H4D0W-TP himself, detailing his plans for the H-Source. These ECHOs do not contribute to any challenge, achievement, or mission -- they are merely present for background flavor.

Cowardice, failure, and your inability to cook a decent meal are there too. Prowling the hallways of your subconscious they wait for a moment of panic to seize control of your puppet-like body. Woke up with an unpleasant (or an occasional pleasant) wetness? Started laughing for no reason? Wanted to ACTUALLY watch MTV? Pulled the trigger but you're not sure why? That’s your subconscious trying to tell you something.

- In a dream-oriented story that follows up on the correspondence Hellboy sent Abe Sapien in "The Chained Coffin," Abe responds to some of Hellboy’s advice in a story by John Arcudi and Mark Nelson.
- It is used to lock and contain troublemakers. As such, it houses Riley's worst fears, which appear in dramatically exaggerated forms. These include broccoli-like forests, the staircase to the basement, Grandma's vacuum cleaner, or, the worst of all, Jangles the clown. After being arrested, Bing Bong is imprisoned in Subconscious. Joy and Sadness let themselves be caught to enter inside and free Bing Bong. They also free Jangles to use him to wake Riley up.

That's because he's still using his conscious mind to drive. But after a while (once the neural connections have been refined to a certain level) this becomes second nature to him allowing his conscious mind more freedom to think freely and dynamically. I will here take the time to explain some ways to "unlocking" it. I'll take some easy way's and some more advanced. I'll start with the easy and then the harder stuff. Everyone has a mind of it's own so I'll take a couple of achievement paths. And you could always edit more ways, all the ways are good ways. :)
