  • John Landis (b. 1950) is a fim director who has helmed such films as The Blues Brothers, An American Werewolf in London, Twilight Zone: The Movie, Into the Night, and Spies Like Us, and Animal House. In many of these films he has cast Frank Oz in bit roles, and An American Werewolf in London even features a scene from The Muppet Show. His earliest Muppet connection was as a performer in the finale of The Muppet Movie. In a scene filled with hundreds of Muppets and performers, Landis manipulated Grover. In 1990, Landis directed the Muppets in Disneyland's 35th Anniversary Celebration.

After Animal House, Landis went on to write and/or produce a string of popular and iconic films, such as The Blues Brothers and An American Werewolf in London and Michael Jackson's music video, Thriller. Landis' career had a shadow cast over it when actor Vic Morrow and two child actors died in an accident on the set of Twilight Zone: The Movie which led to Landis and several crew members facing criminal charges. Although they were ultimately aquitted of these charges, the accident resulted in revisions to child labor laws in California.[1]
