| - Dean Alfred Thomas (born 7 January 1980) was a half-blood wizard and son of wizard Gerald Rowle and his Muggle wife Phoebe. His father left his mother when he was two months old to protect them and was murdered by his brother after refusing to join the Death Eaters. His mother remarried Richard Thomas which gave Dean two half-sisters. Dean never knew of his biological father growing up and was raised to believe Richard was his father and that he was a Muggle-born wizard. He began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991 and was Sorted into Gryffindor. While at school, Dean was best friends with Seamus Finnegan, a real close friend to the trio; Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, and a close friend of Neville Longbottom. In his first year, Dean, along with the trio and Neville, successfully stopped Quirinus Quirrell from taking the Philosopher's Stone. In his fourth year, Dean was one of the few to believe Harry's story about not putting his name in the Goblet, putting his friendship with Seamus on the rocks. In his fifth year, Dean joined Dumbledore's Army, an organization taught and led by Harry Potter. In his sixth year, Dean used the Room of Requirement to find out about his biological father after finding an article in the Library about his death for a History of Magic project. He confronted his mother but later came to terms with his blood status. Although Dean was a half-blood, he couldn't provide proof of Wizarding ancestry and was forced to flee after the Ministry fell to the Death Eaters. He left his family's flat in London in the dead of night leaving only a note and went on the run from the Muggle-Born Registration Commission. After months of eluding capture, he was captured by snatchers and brought to Malfoy Manor, where he hatched an escape plan with the help of the house elf Kimmy and successfully broke out the other prisoners, which included Harry, Hermione and Ron. After being sheltered by the Order of the Phoenix, Dean joined the organization and became a spokesperson on Potterwatch under the codename of Bishop. Dean returned to Hogwarts and participated in the Battle of Hogwarts. After the war, Dean elected not to return to school, instead pursuing an apprenticeship as an artist. Dean married Parvati Patil, which produced a child; Tyler Seamus Thomas. The pair divorced and Dean eventually married his former Muggle girlfriend, who graced him with twin girls Isla Grace and Ava Maya Thomas.
