  • Fran was the owner of the Weston Bakery and the previous owner of the Dragonfly Inn. When Lorelai and Sookie approached Fran about purchasing the Dragonfly Inn, she declined. Fran had no children and she felt that the Dragonfly was sort of her child; she wanted it to remain hers forever. After her death Lorelai and Sookie buy the Dragonfly Inn from her estate. Fran was the first person Lorelai met in Stars Hollow; she asked Fran for directions to the Independence Inn, where Lorelai would eventually begin a job. While Fran only appears in a few episodes of the series, she is mentioned often until her death at the end of the third season.
