The 1995–96 Montreal Canadiens season was the club's 87th season. Two notable events happened during the season. The Canadiens moved from their long-time home Montreal Forum to the new Molson Centre. The other was the trade of star goaltender Patrick Roy. The club qualified for the playoffs, but lost in the first round to the New York Rangers. __TOC__
