| - A chaplain was a priest assigned to minister to military personnel. Due to its larger-than-average complement of Bajorans, USS Bajor had a chaplain of the Bajoran religion, Prylar Simene Jyn'fossy. (Bait and Switch: The Wrong Reflection) The Bajoran Militia had chaplains. (Bait and Switch: "All's Fair in Love and War")
- The Chaplain is responsible for performing military funerals, weddings and other religious services and tending to the spiritual needs of the soldiers in tan Army. In the context of the Sussex Army, the Chaplain is not required to be a Priest, but must have a position within the URACE hierarchy. Requirements to become a Chaplain in the Sussex Army include enlistment therein, and being a Level 3 Church Way member of the Aristotelian Church.
- The chaplain is the elite creature of the Haven in Might & Magic: Heroes VII. Its upgraded form is the abbot.
- The word originally came from the Earth religion Christianity, but Starfleet used the term to refer to any religious official serving those functions. Due to the diversity of religious beliefs, including frequent lack thereof, in Starfleet, they were not commonly seen, and most ships and installations did not have them. Those chaplains that did exist were almost invariably civilian contractors rather than officers. For example, a chaplain of the Bajoran religion was typically a prylar.
- Chaplain is a term used to refer to an individual, either lay or ordained, who has a ministry in a non-parish setting. Chaplains may serve in hospitals, schools, government organizations (such as the military or VA hospitals), and corporations. In Episcoplaian Church of the USA (ECUSA) there is a Bishop Suffragan for Chaplaincies, The Right Rev. George Packard. That office oversees those in chaplain ministries and, in the case of a chaplain candidate or chaplain in the Armed forces, is also the endorser for ECUSA.
- Chaplain is an NPC title in WoW. In Warcraft III, Chaplains served Kul Tiras as healers during The Founding of Durotar when Daelin Proudmoore invaded. They replaced the elven priests because there were very few high elves in Kul Tiras (from which may not be priests). Admiral Proudmoore also had the elite versions. The Scarlet Crusade also employs this mob: Scarlet Chaplain. (DF 185)

- In 2002, he was held at gunpoint by by Frankie and Lulu, a pair of spirits possessing Cole Turner and Phoebe Halliwell in an attempt to get married. The ceremony was interrupted by Darryl and Piper, who froze the chaplain. After Darryl was forced to shoot Cole, the spirits retreated. Piper unfroze the chaplain and Darryl took him away while she summoned Clyde to bring back Leo and Paige from the past to heal Cole.

- Chaplain is an unnamed male chaplain who appeared in "With Intent to Die".
- In battle, the Chaplains will be at the forefront of the Chapter's battlelines, rousing their fellow Space Marines through their words and actions. Their Power Armour is black and often incorporates Imperial skull iconography, most commonly in the form of a skull-shaped helmet. Most Chaplains wield a Power Weapon that takes the form of a mace and is called a Crozius Arcanum. They are also equipped with an Imperial holy symbol known as a Rosarius. Individual Chaplains are assigned to each company within a Space Marine Chapter. Others, including the Reclusiarch who cares for the Chapter's sacred Reclusiam and the Master of Sanctity who is the chief Chaplain of a Chapter and an officer whose rank is usually subordinate only to that of the Chapter Master himself, operate within the Chapter's c
