Stan Potter was a friend of Duggie Ferguson's. On 8th December 2000, Stan printed out a fake preservation order for Coronation Street which had been e-mailed to him from Ken Barlow's computer. The Street's residents were protesting the tarmacing of its cobbles and, upon learning that the real preservation order would not arrive until the next day, Duggie and Ken concocted a plan to delay the tarmackers. Stan had to leave a Christmas party to get to the Street as soon as possible and deliver the faked document, purportedly from the Weatherfield Preservation Society. When the tarmacking was called off for the night, Stan went on his way, wishing the residents a merry Christmas.
