The Magic Arena opened in 1971 with an exhibition game between the NHL's Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks. In the 1980's, Circus Maximus often held performances in the venue's back parking lot, with special figureskating shows inside the building. Concerts where often held as well in the arena itself. In 2013, the 1980's-era jumbotron was replaced with a new US$500,000 video jumbotron built by Daktronics. The original jumbotron was placed in the atrium lobby and is used to display wedding proposals and other information for guests at the arena.
