  • XM8 is a kind of assault rifle featured in CrossFire.
  • The XM8, developed by Heckler & Koch USA (the U.S. branch of the renouned German firearms company), originally started out as the underslung assault rifle component of the prototype XM29 Objective Individual Combat Weapon (OICW). When the XM29 didn't meet the weight, cost, and performance requirements, it was split into two separate weapons, the XM25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement (CDTE) System, and the XM8 Lightweight Assault Rifle. The XM8 fires the NATO-standard 5.56x45mm cartridge, and weighs 7.5lbs, 20% lighter than the M4A1 that it had failed to replace.
  • XM8 on H&K:n valmistama XM29 OICW-projektista johdettu modulaarinen nykyaikainen kivääri polymeerirungolla ja G36:sta tutulla lyhyellä kaasumännällä. XM8 on siis vielä testiase, mistä kertookin sen X -etuliite Alun perin ase siis oli osa Yhdysvaltojen AR-15 –pohjaisten aseiden poistamis-projektia, mutta aseen tulevaisuus käytössä jäi kuitenkin jäihin, koska hanketta ei kilpailutettu, vaan aseen kehitystä pyydettin suoraan H&K9:n Yhdysvaltojen osastolta. Nykyisen politiikan mukaan kuitenkin AR-15 sarja palvelee ”riittävän hyvin”.
  • The HK XM8 Modular Weapon System is a gas operated, rotating bolt rifle that was designed as a cost effective, reliable weapon system to replace the much respected M16 rifle. As of 2013, the XM8 is one of the standard service rifles of the 5th Special Forces Group, also known as Ghost Recon. Baseline Rifle: The standard variant of the XM8 program is a gas operated, select fire assault rifle that fires 5.56mmx45mm NATO rounds from a thirty round magazine.
  • The XM8 DMR and the XM8 Compact Carbine can be found within the Hive Cluster.XM8 DMR The XM8 DMR has an underbarrel grenade launcher that is initially loaded with an HEDP grenade that inflicts up to 270 damage, depending on how close the target is to the center of the explosion (the closer, the more damage dealt). However, only electric grenades may be gathered in the Hive Cluster, so after the HEDP grenade is fired, the grenade launcher can only be loaded with an electric grenade. Each electric grenade inflicts 4.8 damage, but can stun enemies for significantly longer periods of time. The reload button must be held down in order for an electric grenade to be loaded into the grenade launcher when it's empty, and will add 3.30 seconds to the reload time if the XM8 DMR's capacity is not full.
  • The XM8 is a derivative of the G36 rifle that was originally based off of the OICW (Objective Individual Combat Weapon) program. The XM8 is an assault rifle manufactured by Heckler and Koch that chambers the 5.56x45mm NATO round. The weapon never got out of its prototype stage, hence its "X" designation. The weapon was usually equipped with an integral red dot scope. There is another variant of the XM8 that appeared in the Rainbow Six universe. This variant is simply named the M8.
