Lucy Dolan, a struggling actress, is murdered in an apparent robbery-homicide where a video tape filmed by tourists confirms the ID of three suspects. They convict the suspects, but McCoy takes another look at the defense's evidence on the victim's cell phone usage and it shows someone stopped calling Dolan after she was murdered, knowing she was dead. Only the real murderer would do that. The police track him down and arrest him. The murder weapon is found in his apartment and his lawyer wants to talk a deal. McCoy starts the procedure for releasing the three that were convicted and he worries about how to prevent such a mistake from happening again.
