| - Though it is known as the Battle of Xerxe s, it is often commented to be the "War of Xerxes" because of it being over a period of two months instead of a matter of hours. Xerxes was the largest colony on Vercruz and home to a small Military outpost called Fort Tranquility, home and base to James Christianson and the 101st Siege Battlalion. The war began when Pretarians began to drop heavy fire upon the city, destroying much of it's infrastructure. Pretarians then used much of the ruins in the colony as their own bases, meaning that hostages and captured civilians were obvisious. Because only a unit of the 101st Siege was there, the battle took longer, and since Vercruz was so close to the Terminus Systems many Council races were against the idea of sending in a fleet to rescue the soldiers. The commanding officer of the 101st Siege Battalion, Colonel Thomas Gates, was reported to have been killed on Day 13 of the War on Xerxes. It is also noted that many nearby colonies also helped evacuate civilians, one colony that helped named Titanus was attacked by Pretarians for three days but held it's ground and managed to defend the city and it's people. The game of Mass Effect: Deception Point takes place at the battle of Breaking Point in which 101st Siege Battalion, accompanied by a long-waited Alliance Fleet, managed to retake Xerxes from the Pretarians.
