Thular was the first practice Dwarf crafted by Aule. Aule had made the stone construct 7 ft. tall and made it for the Dwarfs. He instructed the Dwarfs that he would always be with them and that Thular possessed great powers. Thular became Aule's avatar for the Dwarfs and the Dwarfs encased him in metal armor. Thular fought in many battles during the First Age and served as a great guardian to the Dwarfs. However, when Nogrod fell, Thular was trapped--and with the sinking of Beleriand--Thular found himself at the bottom of the ocean. Eventually the construct disappeared from history and sight. The Dwarfs say the avatar returned to Valinor to live within his Master's mansion and help carve out a place for their people. This legend was in fact true for that is now where Thular dwells, helping
