Synopsis
| - Wally West is in Manhattan seeing his psychiatrist, Dr. Owen Slade, discussing issues with his father being a Manhunter. Suddenly, they learn that the diamond exchange across the hall is being robbed by an obese man who appears to be eating diamonds. He manages knock down Wally, who has sprung into action as the Flash, by spitting diamonds at him. Somehow, the obese man manages to disappear during an apparent earthquake.
Back at his mansion, Wally deals with his mother's dissatisfaction with Tina living with him. He receives a request to appear before the Middle Hampton city council.
The next day, the obese man from the diamond exchange steals an armored car carrying 1900 lbs. of gold. After getting in the driver's seat, the car suddenly disappears.
Wally investigates the previous day's robbery and runs into Dr. Slade. Slade mentions a colleaque of his who treated a young boy who seems to match the characteristics of the robber. With the aid of Cyborg, Wally's able to learn his identity: Chester Runk.
Wally takes Tina out to a nice dinner and a platinum exhibit at the local art center before the city council meeting. The council requests that Wally leave Middle Hampton because his presence has resulted in extremely high liability insurance premiums. The meeting is cut short by a robbery at the art center. It is Chester Runk, who refers to himself as "Chunk". He explains to Wally how he swallowed a matter transmitter and needs to consume highly dense materials to keep himself from imploding to an awful place. Chunk catches Wally in a bear hug, and transports them to another place.
