Fiat-Hitachi was a industry created through a joint venture between Fiat and Hitachi in 1986 to produce excavators since 1988 in San Mauro Torinese, Italy. The other machines produced were backhoe loaders and skid steer loaders at the Benati factory in Imola, Italy, and crawler and wheeled loaders, bulldozer and dumper at Astra's factories. The joint venture was ended in March 2001 with Fiat establishing a new joint venture called Fiat Kobelco.
