With a change in regulations that disallowed refueling during the race, it became necessary to increase the size of the fuel tank, and the rear half of the machine has become correspondingly larger. The front nose is on the same trend as the last year with the top part of the nose carved out, and the body height at the suspension mounting area begins high, and lowers as it approaches the driver. The color of the front wing was changed to white, and became a very complex structure, indicating the many hours of research and development that has gone into its perfection. The F-duct system introduced by McLaren was also incorporated quickly by Ferrari. A vent hole was added to the left of the cockpit so the driver, wearing a special thicker glove on his left hand, could block the hole by hand to activate the F duct.
