These creatures from the Dark Down-Below are vicious veterans of war, though this was not always so. Ages ago, before man had arrived they lived a simple nomadic existence near the Iriànvatta river, or so the legends say. Their shelters were constructed from whatever materials the nearby forest provided them, rudimentarily built cabins of leaves and trees. The sages say of these beings, that they were driven to find the end of the Iriànvatta, to the west they subsequently traveled where they encountered not the Great Beyond as they had expected but the Carothinian city of Roo-roth, a grand yet simple city built from timber gathered from the nearby forest.

  • These creatures from the Dark Down-Below are vicious veterans of war, though this was not always so. Ages ago, before man had arrived they lived a simple nomadic existence near the Iriànvatta river, or so the legends say. The sages say of these beings, that they were driven to find the end of the Iriànvatta, to the west they subsequently traveled where they encountered not the Great Beyond as they had expected but the Carothinian city of Roo-roth, a grand yet simple city built from timber gathered from the nearby forest. Documents of old speak of an alliance being forged between the peoples, signed by Grand Cá-Rai Rab himself. Exchange of knowledge flourished between the peoples and so it came that the visitors to the Carothinians heard of the Great Shadow that Rab himself had encountered. Though visibly shaken at the revelation of something like that wandering the earth they grew arrogant and passed off the story as merely old tales intended to scare them from proceeding to the West. During their stay, on the eve of the seventy seventh hundred and fourth passing of the Sun, the elder Nalab'en disappeared together with Grand Cá-Rai Rab. In disarray a powerful lord of the Carothinians claimed lordship over the guests possessions citing compensation for the murder of Grand Cá-Rai Rab of which he accused the Mârna Brachía. Greatly offended they drew their weapons yet they were no match for the carothinian lord's trained army. Fleeing and being persecuted they reached the entrance of the intricate cave system that had been formed thousands of years ago by the Iriànvatta's waters - Mirigél. Seeing no other escape, they abandonded their existence on the surface choosing a life in the cave system. It is said they were lead by Mârana, son of Nalab'en. This was the last time they were heard of until their recent surfacing. How they survived in the dark beneath is a mystery.
