It was a tremendous success in Europe, hitting the top of the Irish charts, #2 in Sweden, Norway and the United Kingdom, #3 in the Netherlands, #4 in Switzerland and #6 in Austria. Several successful follow-up singles followed. At the Congratulations gala in 2005, it was voted the #3 best Eurovision song of all time behind Waterloo and Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu. In 2006, Logan re-recorded a chorus sample for Belgian rapper Kaye Styles' summer hit "Don't Cry", and in 2007 the song was also used in a McDonald's ad campaign in Ireland. Fans of Dublin's Bohemian football club adopted it as their anthem.
