The Braided Man of Oz is a modern Oz book written by Rufus K. Lionel. It was self-published in 1971, then republished in 1987. The Braided Man, still living on Pyramid Mountain, now has a pet Gargoyle, Gorry. They go searching for the Braided Man's lost flutters and end up in the Deadly Desert, where they find robots and the Ruby Slippers. The story seems to contradict Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz in that Gorry can both speak and tolerate noise. A short story of the same title was published in Oziana 1997.
