Martha Kent was usually friendly to Clark's friends but became particularly close to Lois Lane, offering her a place to live and regularly giving her advice. Jonathan Kent, who was usually cautious about who he invited into his family's life in order to protect Clark's secret, welcomed Lois and also developed a close bond, as they worked together during his campaign for State Senator.
