Having minored in communications while at Starfleet Academy, by 2385 Ssura held the rank of Lieutenant junior grade and was assigned to Starfleet Headquarters. When the USS Titan was recalled to Earth, Ssura was tasked with greeting Captain William T. Riker and escorting him to his meeting with Fleet Admiral Leonard James Akaar. Following Riker's promotion to Rear Admiral, Ssura was assigned to be Riker's aide on a full time basis. Ssura spent the first day acclimating Riker to his new position at Starfleet Headquarters. Ssura later assisted Admiral Riker in determining that Admiral Akaar liked to take breaks in a small park in the headquarters campus and Riker was finally able to actually talk to the elusive Commander-in-Chief of the Federation Starfleet since his recall to Earth.
