Werner Friebe (12 July 1897 – 8 March 1962) was a highly decorated Generalmajor in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded 8. Panzer-Division. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Werner Friebe was captured by British troops in May 1945 and was released in 1948. Werner Friebe was the younger brother of Generalleutnant Helmut Friebe, who was also a Knight's Cross recipient.
