The Sovereign-class, like the Eclipse-class Star Dreadnaught of the first sector, was the most powerful command ship available in the second sector. While it was 2,500 meters shorter than the Eclipse-class, it was still 15,000 meters long. These ships were not as streamlined from front to back, but did have similar command structures to Eclipse-class vessels. Ships of this class were still very heavily armed, with an axial superlaser as its main weapon. Like its larger cousin, this weapon could tear through any capital ship or planetary shield with ease. It could also sear whole continents.

Complementing this weapon were 500 heavy tubolaser cannons and 500 turbolaser batteries. 75 ion cannons disabled shields, while 100 tractor beam projectors and 5 gravity well projectors prevented ships from leaving. These ships were capable of carrying 432 starfighters, 72 of which are bombers. Unlike its predecessor, it did not carry and ground vehicles or garrison bases.
