The Politburo (Russian: Политбюро; IPA: [pəlʲɪtbʲʊˈro], full: Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, abbreviated Политбюро ЦК КПСС, Politbyuro TsK KPSS), was the highest policy-making government authority under the Communist Party of the Soviet Union since it's creation in October 1917 until it's scrapping with the fall of the USSR. It was known as the Praesidium of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1952 to 1966 and functioned as the central policy-making and governing body of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
