The Montreal Junior B Hockey League operated at the Junior B level through the 1960s. In 1972, the Montreal league split apart with 1/3 of it's teams moving up to form the new Quebec Tier II Jr A league, 1/3 forming the Richelieu Jr B league and the remaining team merging into the Metropolitan Jr.B league. The league is now a Junior D league (nationally) based in Montreal, Quebec. It operates below the Montreal Junior A Hockey League of the Junior C level (nationally).
