Former overseer of the Area 16 prison in the Mojave Desert on Earth, Gustav Eiger led a radically xenophobic terrorist organization called the Keep Earth Pure movement. He gave the order to detonate sixteen plasma bombs on Earth to spite President Lazarus Blades and his alien-friendly trade policies. He then embarked on a string of Specialist serial killings before assuming the identity of Sheriff James Faubert on La Terre. He tried detonating a plasma bomb in a polydenum mining facility in the year 3001. Had he succeeded, he would have blown the planet apart. But he was shot and killed, and the bomb was disarmed. (Ironically, the planet's ruler, Bartholomew Ritter, would end up destroying the planet in much the same way a few months later, to spite the coming of the Lem'ing invasion fleet
