Seine Osthänge waren ein Teil des Fangornwaldes und der Ring von Isengart lag an einer Gabelung am Ende des Gebirges. Aus dem Wald heraus floss die junge Entwasser, rasch und schmal und ihr Bett tief eingeschnitten. Hoch oben, vom weißen Gipfel des Berges entsprang sie und sprang über Stufe um Stufe abwärts. Am Fuß des Methedras entsprang der Isen, dessen Wasser Isengart zum Verhängnis wurden.
