An Abandoned Keep is one of the seven most basic Encounter Zone types. These are among the easier Encounters (relatively speaking), where the sites themselves have no added functionality. Abandoned Keeps are guarded by Fantastic Creatures of the File:Icon Nature.pngNature Realm in the official game, and either File:Icon Nature.pngNature or File:Icon Chaos.pngChaos in Insecticide or later. Depending on which Plane the Abandoned Keep appears on (i.e. Arcanus or Myrror), it may contain anything up to and including File:Icon Nature.pngGreat Wyrms (or File:Icon Chaos.pngGreat Drakes). Some Abandoned Keeps are empty (containing no monsters).

  • The Abandoned Keep is a dungeon location in Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song. Formerly called "Dellsdale", the Keep resides in the central part of the Knights Dominion and was once a mighty fortress that has now been overrun with monsters. Sections of the Keep have caved in or are prone to collapse. Standing on the weak floor areas for too long will result in you falling down a level. However, this is the only way to gain access to all of the Keep, especially the underground portion.

It can range from small amounts of File:Icon Gold.png and File:Icon Mana.png all the way up to new Spellbooks and Retorts (and, occasionally, "Absolutely nothing"). If the Treasure contains one or more Spellbooks, they will be books of File:Icon Death.pngDeath (unavailable to Wizards possessing any File:Icon Life.pngLife books). Unconquered Abandoned Keeps may occasionally spawn Rampaging Monsters, a group of Neutral Fantastic Units matching the Realm of the site's defenders. The strength of these stacks increases as the game matures. These monsters will head straight for a nearby Town controlled by one of the Wizards. On the higher Difficulty Settings, they will typically target the human player's Cities.

Touching the statue will teleport you to 3F. The tiles on this floor require a certain button press when stepped on. If you press the correct button in time you will be able to advance one tile, however failure to press the right button (in time) will warp you back to the start of 3F. When you have crossed the tiles and lowered the statues you can fight a powerful Cyclops enemy, which guards some treasure chests.
