| - "Which family has been helped more by these border stone movements?"
- "All right, Groat, I hear you. Stop clicking your tongue and speak up!"
- "Calming them is fine, my [lord/lady], but suppose we gave them a tiny push in the other direction? Let the fire flare so it burns out sooner."
- "Which family would you favor, Alvyn, if you were asked?"
- "Others call the quarreling families the Streams and Thickets, for the fields they share. The border stones have been moved six times this year. Six!"
- "It's curious, my [lord/lady]. Neither has benefited. The stones have encroached on land planted by each family, sometimes on both at the same time."
- "A confusing situation, then. Send someone to sort it out."
- Alvyn smiles and looks down into his goblet. "Seems to me you did ask, just then. The Streams send more to your storehouses, but..." He shrugs.
- "Make things worse to make them better? An intriguing idea! Tell me more."
- "If you're uncomfortable choosing a favorite, I won't do so either."
