He played junior for the Montreal Nationale (a Montreal Canadiens farm team) from 1945-48. Deslauriers turned pro in the Canadiens system with the Dallas Texans in 1948-49 and the Cincinnati Mohawks in 1949-50. The next season he joined the Valleyfield Braves of the Quebec Senior Hockey League (Major) and won the Alexander Cup. He stayed with the Braves through the 1954-55 season.
