He married Rosetta Carter in 2602, and had two daughters, Michelle and Ashley. His father was a well-known member of parliament, and his grandfather was the first black mayor of Port Aloria. Jones received a BA in economics in 2686 from the University of Port Aloria and an MA in international law from the University of Libertia in 2690. He entered politics in 2601, after working for four years as a analyst with the Van Nider Computer Corporation in Sildar City. Jones was elected to parliament in 2605 and served two terms. During that time, he became a close friend of President Kirsten Kirkwood. Kirkwood later handpicked him to suceed her as president in 2612. That year he was elected. In 2615 he was re-elected but then lost a shot at a third-term in 2618. In 2620, he defeated President Paul Salvatore. Despite popular support for a fourth-term, Jones refused to run for president in 2623. That same year, Jones and Kirkwood successfully campaigned for MLP member Carla Franco's presidential campaign. Jones also campaigned for Franco two years later when parliament called special elections and she lost her seat to Bernard Rosenberg of the NP. Jones retired from politics at that time.
