Enforce legal character (ELC) is a Neverwinter Nights server setting that checks characters to make sure they do not violate game rules. For example, a character that has too many skill points or has been hacked to have a strength of 100 would violate ELC. A character that fails an ELC check will typically be rejected upon starting a module (which includes logging into a server). In addition to intentional violation of the rules, there are a few circumstances in which players could inadvertently violate ELC. These typically occur under one of the following conditions:
