The CIO must be student, teacher, listener, advocate, coach, administrator, and sage. * The CIO will make regular presentations to the Board of Trustees. In addition, a Board-level committee may be appropriate. * In some cases, the CIO will supervise the school's library staff. Academic Duties * The CIO will support the academic mission of the school. * The CIO chairs the Technology Committee and works in tandem with the various department heads and/or an Educational Technology Specialist to maximize the benefits of technology in their areas of the School. * The CIO works in tandem with the various department heads and/or an Educational Technology Specialist to develop strategies to train the various constituencies of the school . * The CIO should assemble and develop a customer service-oriented team that is expert in the hardware and software necessary to promote better teaching and better learning. Operational/Institutional Duties * The CIO should investigate, deploy and/or develop information and database systems that enable major school departments (Academics, Admissions, Development, Dean of Students, College Counseling, etc.) be more productive and efficient. * The CIO should assemble and develop a customer service-oriented team that is expert in the hardware and software necessary to maintain the school's database and information systems. * The CIO should be forward-thinking and able to knowledgeably anticipate the future landscape of an expensive, essential, and rapidly-changing field.
