Loring Park was the site of a Mothers Against the Madness in Germany rally in the summer of 1946. It was here that Mayor Hubert Humphrey rushed the stage during a reading of the names of soldiers killed by the German Freedom Front to plead with the protestors to support the continued US occupation of Germany.
