The unnamed Police Sergeant was part of the force who attended during the siege of Coronation Street in December 1970 when an insane Joe Donelli held Minnie Caldwell hostage at gunpoint inside No. 5. Detective Inspector Seabright was in charge of operations and sealed off both ends of the street, front and back except for the Rovers, and tried to talk Donelli out by loudhailer. The US Military Police were also there as Joe was an army soldier who was AWOL and Seabright allowed Sergeant Stevens of that force to go into the back yard of No. 5 together with the British Sergeant to try and speak to him there. Joe fired a bullet through the back window at them for their pains and they dived out of the yard and into the safety of the ginnel.
