Pedro Passos Coelho (born July 24, 1964) is the current Prime Minister of Portugal, assuming the office on June 21, 2011 following a general election in which his Liberal Democrat Party emerged with the most seats and formed a coalition with fourth-place Popular Front to achieve a majority. Passos Coelho served as Minister of Finance from 2003-2007 in the Azenha government and was the Deputy Minister of Finance before, as well as a longtime PDL partisan, having been part of the PDL Youth organizations since he was fifteen.
