The Yiwa, though a lesser clan of the Alwari was not an unimportant one. Its members were known for their wariness of strangers, their quickness to take offense, and for always being on the move. They traveled on sadain mounts, which were also used as beasts of burden, and kept domesticated, corralled dorgum and heavy-humped awiquod. In 22 BBY, during their mission to Ansion, a team of four Jedi—Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Luminara Unduli, and Barriss Offee—performed at an evening feast at a temporary Yiwa camp that had been set up at the end of a shallow, reed-filled lake. The Yiwa were so impressed by the Jedi's performances that they agreed to aid them in their mission to find and negotiate with the Borokii overclan, in a bid to prevent Ansion's secession from the Galactic Republic.
