After the feud between the Broadbeams and Firebeards forced Dwári's heir to take refuge in Khazad-dûm the ring became tied with the fate of the Longbeards. While Dwári's heirs managed to retrieve the ring from Moria its last bearer, Kúri fell while defending Dúrin's heir with his life before the gates of Nuril-lagil. The ring was believed to have been devoured by the Dragon Skell.
