Sir Benjamin Franklin was an American writer, printer, scientist, and statesman who was the first Speaker of the Grand Council. His involvement in the crafting of what became known as the Albany Plan, and ultimately the Union of North America. For his influence in the nation's formation, he is known among Americans as the "Father of His Country."
