About half way through the flight a hijacker attempted to take control of the cockpit after he had managed to get past security with a gun. The hijacker told the pilot to take the flight to Florida. The crew and passengers were able to restrain the hijacker and the plane continued to New York were the hijacker was arrested. A bomb was later found in his baggage-hold luggage, it was not armed.
