Most rice burners cannot be drifted — only those with rear-wheel drive, such as the Nissan 240SX, Toyota Supra, Toyota Corolla AE86, Nissan Skyline GTS-T, and Mazda RX7. As these are rarely drifted, their drivers are shunned for being "outside of the box". Nearly all cars drifted today are 240SX's and Skylines owned by WoW players.

- According to the producer, Big Al and Trem had a relationship, and now they're about to break up. Big Al doesn't want to, but he knows it's not going to go back to the way it used to. Trem is about ready to snap with all the inner turmoil that's going on; she wants to break up, but she hasn't gotten up the courage yet. And she's afraid of how that whole conversation will go.
- Drifting is the ability to maneuver your robo in the air during free fall. Though all robos can drift to some extent, jumpers like Aerial Beauties and Big Boys are the most proficient drifters, while Old-Timers, Sassy Stunners, and Little Sprinters are a bit less so. Use these types of robos to move in a "box" formation (e.g. left, back, right, front) to effectively dodge incoming attacks. Leg parts such as the Feather Legs and High Jump Legs optimize conditions for drifting.
- Drifting is a non-mandatory (non-mission-based) activity in the Just Cause game series. See also: Stunts and how to do them.
- Drifting is the core aspect of Ridge Racer series, allowing for quicker cornering through the course. In most games, there are two possible techniques for drifting, either by laying on the brakes or letting off the accelerator.
- Drifting, or sometimes known as Powersliding, is a vehicular technique seen in Cars, Cars: The Video Game, and Cars 2.
- Because of its popularity within the community, there is a multiplayer gametype exclusive to drifting in Forza Motorsport 4, where players drift for points and whoever gains the most points wins. In later games, there are also Rivals events that involve high scores, similar to the Gate Drift race mode of the Asphalt series. In Forza Horizon 3, drifting is even more important thanks to the addition of Drift Zones.
- Drifting is the 18th chapter of Eldest. It takes the point of view of Eragon.
- In exchange for greater tire friction and lower cornering speed, drifting improves the rate at which a car can steer in any direction. On tarmac, drifting is normally a slower cornering method than traditional methods used by professional drivers. In rally racing, however, drifting is an essential technique for many corners (due to rough terrain, which can sometimes require alternative driving methods to achieve higher cornering speeds). Drifting has been available to players since Grand Theft Auto III. But, prior to the release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, drifting did not offer players much car control.

The differences between drifting around corners and driving around corners are best described visually (watch professionals to better understand these differences). When a vehicle drives around a left turn, for example, the driver is steering left. When a vehicle drifts around a left turn, ideally, the driver is steering right. While a vehicle is drifting, it travels around a corner on an angle. The vehicle has lost rear traction and is spinning around, but the driver is preventing the car from spinning around completely. A driver controls this loss of traction through many rigorous throttle and steering corrections, and is "controlling" a vehicle that is trying to spin around. The driver is "spinning out" around a corner, but remains in control of the vehicle.
