Cortlandt Street–World Trade Center was a station on the IRT Broadway-Seventh Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. The station and the surrounding subway tunnels were damaged in the September 11, 2001 attacks, and the line south of Chambers Street was temporarily closed. What was left of the station was completely demolished, and walls were constructed where the platforms used to be. The line reopened on September 15, 2002, with trains traveling directly between Chambers Street and Rector Street. The station is expected to be reopened as part of the World Trade Center site reconstruction.
