He intended to destroy the giant Ood Brain to contain the Red Eye and kill the Ood.

Immer an seiner Seite agiert sein treuer Diener Ood Sigma, der ihm, als Klineman den Zehnten Doctor und Donna Noble erschießen will, abermals einen Drink anbietet. Erst jetzt wird Klineman klar, dass Sigma ihm die ganze Zeit Getränke zubereitete. Darin enthalten war Ood-Gewebe, so dass sich Klineman über die Zeit langsam in einen Ood verwandelt. Die Nähe zum Ood-Gehirn beendet diesen Prozess, so dass Klineman vollständig zu einem Ood wird. (Planet of the Ood)

This prompted Halpen to throw him into the Brain, which devoured him. Halpen was sensing defeat and suffering from intense headaches. Sigma revealed that he had used the hair tonic to dose Halpen with Ood graft suspended in a biological compound, turning him into an Ood as punishment for his attitude towards Oodkind.
