- The Off-Beats is an animated short on KaBlam! created by Mo Willems. It is similar to the Peanuts TV specials, because of its art-style and the jazzy soundtrack. It is about a group of misfits called The Off-Beats that are dealing with problems with a clique called The Populars. The Off-Beats ran on the first two seasons of KaBlam!. After Mo Willems pursued work on Cartoon Network's Sheep in the Big City, the show was removed from KaBlam!, making way for new shorts that would debut on Seasons 3 and 4. It is about a group of misfits called The Off-Beats that are dealing with problems with a clique called The Populars. The series originally featured three pilot episodes, with two that appeared in the Rugrats Tommy's Trouble VHS and one other appearing as a SNICK Snack. They were made to promote the premiere of KaBlam! in 1996. In the pilot episodes, the animation was slightly choppy, the characters' voices were different and The Off-Beats were called "The Misfits" in the first pilot episode. The Off-Beats ran on the first two seasons of KaBlam!. After Mo Willems pursued work on Cartoon Network's Sheep in the Big City, the show was removed from KaBlam!, making way for new shorts that would debut on Seasons 3 and 4.
