The Vengeance class Star Destroyer began its life as a concept idea for a warship of the Wild Star Confederacy. It was hoped that it would one day be the successor to the incredibly versatile Imperial-class Star Destroyer. It was planned to be an improvement of the Imperial Mark II design. Not having a true basis from which to operate from at the time however the idea was scrapped. A few years later the Confederacy obtained the designs to both the Mark I and Mark II versions of the Imperial Star Destroyer and thus began a the long process of dissecting just what is what that made the two classes of Imperials Star Destroyers so powerful. Out of this came three designs, the Eclipse Star Cruiser, the Bravery class Star Destroyer and finally the Vengeance class Star Destroyer.

Not having a true basis from which to operate from at the time however the idea was scrapped. A few years later the Confederacy obtained the designs to both the Mark I and Mark II versions of the Imperial Star Destroyer and thus began a the long process of dissecting just what is what that made the two classes of Imperials Star Destroyers so powerful. Out of this came three designs, the Eclipse Star Cruiser, the Bravery class Star Destroyer and finally the Vengeance class Star Destroyer. Due to certain constraints at the time the Vengeance still was left on the drawing board never seeing the opportunity to complete such a vessel. Over the course of time however Wild Star developed a partnership with Sienar Fleet Systems. As the partnership grew and became stronger the Confederacy leapt at the opportunity to present the Vengeance. Simply stated Wild Star lacked certain technical expertise that such a project would require. Soon after the proposal Sienar's engineers gladly joined in the production and final design stages of the vessel, thus the Vengeance Star Destroyer was born. Built with a split prow the Vengeance has the ability to both launch and retrieve its fighters through either the standard ventral hanger opening or the launch tube that runs from hanger to in between the two mandibles of the bow. Moved forward the hanger gave Confederate and Sienar technicians another opportunity that no other Star Destroyer had been given, backup shielding as well as internally stored shield generators. In keeping with standard Star Destroyer design the shield generation domes were left on the bridge tower, but removed of all usage save to work as decoys. With smaller, yet just as powerful shield generators and a smaller, more efficient power core the Vengeance is built from all new technology. Sienar laden with cutting edge technology and living up to its reputation as a Wild Star Confederacy built capital ship the Vengeance is quite the warmonger. In short the Vengeance is the prototypical next generation Star Destroyer.
