Riker was kidnapped. (TNG novel: A Time to Heal) A short time after Riker was safely back on the Enterprise, Troi contacted Del Cid in the middle of the night. She was having trouble sleeping due to a recent fight with her mother and nightmares about her interrogation of General Gyero Minza. Del Cid convinced Troi that she had to tell Riker the truth about Minza and how he made Troi feel. (TNG novel: A Time for War, A Time for Peace)
