Voting is a rite of passage for users. It gives them much more say and influence in wiki activity. These guidelines are to ensure that all votes are concise, simple, and organized. All a user requires to obtain voting rights is 100 mainspace edits (this is lowered to fifty (50) until October 12, 2010). Those edits must not be entirely minor edits. The reason for the mainspace edit requirements is so that a user is not able to use sockpuppets to rig votes.

  • Voting is a rite of passage for users. A user, having obtained voting rights, can then proceed to vote upon anything in the wiki, such as RfAs, Wiki maintenance and policy discussions, polls, et cetera. The wiki must follow this simple ruleset when voting: * A user may not vote more than once. * A user who does not have voting rights will have their vote struck through and ignored. * A user whose voting rights are suspended will have their votes struck-through and ignored. * If the user had voted before their block, their vote is still valid. However, they cannot change their vote with the exception of withdrawing their vote. * A user must have a valid reason for their vote where and when it applies. If a user puts a neutral vote because they wish to stay out of the vote at hand, it will be struck through and ignored. * If a user is identified as a sockpuppet, they will have their vote struck through and ignored. A user who has an acquired voting rights can never have them taken away permanently. However, their rights may be suspended for up to but not exceeding two weeks immediately after a user's block expires.
