Although most engineering functions were controlled from the engine room, engineering stations on the bridge of starships enabled monitoring and control by the chief engineer. abstract
| - Although most engineering functions were controlled from the engine room, engineering stations on the bridge of starships enabled monitoring and control by the chief engineer. (Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Animated Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Enterprise) Scotty once, in 2369, recreated his old engineering station from the original USS Enterprise on the holodeck of the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "Relics" ) The next year, Riker repeatedly occupied the engineering station in a holographic recreation of the bridge aboard Enterprise NX-01, observing holographic representations of the ship's staff officers. (ENT: "These Are the Voyages...") Although Riker is shown at the holographic Enterprise engineering station in "These Are the Voyages...", the final draft script of that episode did not specify which station he was to occupy at those times, referring to it merely as "one of the N.D. stations."
