Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Assheton Pownall (3 October 1877 - 29 October 1953) was a Conservative Party politician. The son of Charles Assheton Whately Pownall and Dora Bourne née Royds. Following education at Rugby School, he entered business in the City of London and was an underwriter at Lloyd's of London. He sat as a Municipal Reform Party member of the London County Council representing Lewisham from 1907-10, and was vice-chairman of the Highways Committee. He was Master of the Worshipful Company of Vintners for 1942 and 1947.
