| - Name: Jack Faulkner Age: 25 Gender: Male Occupation: Grocer's apprentice. He'll eventually inherit his father's shop, Faulkner's Market. Residence: Upper First, in his family’s small flat. His sister, Alice, also lives there. Appearance: Blonde hair and blue eyes with a slightly mischievous twinkle in them, if you know what to look for. Personality: Light-hearted and rather flippant, despite being extremely clever, Jack was hit extremely hard by the sudden death of his mother. His grief was very dark and translated into a deep rage against society, in particular the corrupt government and the ineffectual police, as well as anger at himself and a deep sense of guilt. He needed to be strong for his father, however, as Mr. Faulkner took ill with shock after the death of his wife, forcing his son to care for him and run the family business until his recovery. As a result, Jack has internalized and concealed his feelings of grief and rage, to the point that almost no one is aware of them--the possible exception being his sister, Alice. He has become a bit brittle emotionally, and uses teasing and his old flippant behaviors to distract from himself, so that he can seem shallow on the surface. He is determined, and despite apparent flightiness he has a code of ethics and sticks to it despite pain to himself." History: His father owns and operate Faulkner's Market, a grocery shop on Upper First. Jack is in line to inherit the business and takes care of most of the business out-front. Mr. John Faulkner takes care of contracting with airships to get the groceries that they sell. Jack grew up in the shop, learning the business of dealing with customers early in his life. When his sister left to go to work in the library, Jack accused her of being pretentious but secretly he envies her for her life away from home. They remain friends, however, and Alice and Jack have lots of fun teasing one another in the evenings and posing each other questions of trivia or logic. His mother, Mrs. John Faulkner, was killed 2 years ago in a bombing attributed to Noir Abandon. She had worked as a secretary for Mr. Filmore and was killed in the same explosion as her employer. Jack took her death very hard, blaming society in general for her death. He still holds grudges against the police for their continued failure to catch Noir, and against the corrupt government for spurring Noir into action. Skills: Jack has been practically running a business for quite a few years now, though it is still officially in his father’s name. He can also handle a conversation in a deft manner. He sells vegetables in order to see people buy them, which amuses him in an obscure fashion.
