It's first member and founder was Alexandros I of Nicaea, son of Philip I of Nicaea and Sophie Klementine von Habsburg-Lorraine. It became the ruling house of the Kingdom of Nicaea, followed by both the Russian Empire and the Portuguese Dominions. Later, it would also become the ruling family of the Roman Empire, taking residence in the Great Palace of Constantinople. The current head is Hadrian II, Emperor of the Romans.
